New Children's Book Teaches the Gospel of Salvation

DALLAS (BusinessWire EON) September 25, 2007 -- First-time children's author, Patty Zemanick, explains, "Sometimes it can be a challenge when trying to explain the story of salvation to a child. This book simply, gently tells that story and introduces children to Jesus, to his gift of love and eternal life. It can be used as a teaching tool for parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers and others to help children make the decision of asking Jesus into their lives." Patty adds, "I intended to tell the story of a walk with my earthly father. God used this story to take us on a walk with Him and the salvation story unfolds." Mary Hamrick, President of Dragonfly Ministries states, "In this story, a grandfather (Papa) invites his granddaughter to join him on a walk. The journey begins in a hay field, and then moves into a forest, they travel alongside a stream and eventually arrive at a hilltop. The details of their journey are vividly described in words and in the watercolor illustrations, giving the reader the feeling that they are walking with the two travelers. Mid-point in the story, Papa and the child reflect on their journey and a conversation about Jesus begins. Papa points out things they experienced while walking that brings the salvation story to life. The book culminates in the child's tender prayer to Jesus where she simply prays, 'Jesus - I do love you. Please come into my heart. Forgive me for my sins. From you, I'll never part.' The last two pages of the book include scripture references which will lead the reader into a deeper understanding of the gift Christ gave us in His gift of forgiveness and eternal life."

Patty Zemanick, author of this children's book, is a native of Binghamton, New York. After living in Plano, Texas for 15 years, she recently returned to Binghamton to be close to family and is currently working on a second children's book.

Sandra Hammack, illustrator, is a native of York, South Carolina and resides in Greenville, South Carolina. Sandra graduated with a Visual Arts degree from Winthrop College and enjoys using her talent in ways that will bring encouragement to the young and not-so-young.

Mary Hamrick adds, "Released in early 2007, this book has already made an impact on adults and children from Cambodia to Germany and from Florida to Alaska. The book is being used by adults to bring the message of salvation to children of all ages. Children are taking the book to their schools, daycares, and camps so that they can share the message with friends. This book is making an eternal impact in the lives of those who read and share it."
