Which Electric Scooter Should I Get For My Toddler?
Just like shopping for a car, shopping for an electric scooter requires some knowledge so you don?t waste your money. There are several electric scooters for children, but which one is right for your little one?
When selecting an electric scooter, you want to take a few things into consideration.
1.What age is the rider? 2.What will be the intended purpose for this scooter? 3.Where will you be riding the scooter? 4.How long will this scooter suit your needs? 5.Do you want a sit-down or a stand-up model?
What age is the rider? - Electric scooters are designed for different age levels. Usually, the scooter of choice, depending on age, will be based on overall output known as wattage. Electric scooters can range from one-hundred watts all the way up to one thousand watts.
For the toddler, the recommended entry level electric powered scooter is the one-hundred to one-hundred-forty watt scooters. These particular scooters will travel through low grass, but are made primarily for the sidewalks and the roads. The one-hundred and one-hundred-forty watt electric scooters are not recommended for children over sixty pounds. Most manufacturers and suppliers will tell you that they can handle as much as one-hundred to one-hundred-twenty pounds, but the tires will not last long with this weight.
The tires on these entry-level electric scooters are made of either slid soft rubber, or solid hard rubber. The roads and sidewalks tend to chew these tires up and will end up needing replacement. The more weight that these entry-level scooters carry means the more pressure that is put on the tires. If the scooter is being ridden on a smooth surface, the tires will last forever.
One more consideration should be how heavy the rider is. The electric scooters in this category can travel from eight to twelve miles per hour while going from eight to fifteen miles on a single charge. As the weigh of the rider increases, the top speed and the travel distance decreases.
If you are looking for a sit down scooter, you will be hard pressed to find one in this category. The majority of scooters in this category are strictly stand up.
One benefit of these entry-level scooters is that they are lightweight, averaging twelve to fifteen pounds and most can fold down for easy transport and storage. Taking one of these scooters to a friend?s house is a sinch. Fold it up and put it in the back seat or trunk of the car. When you are ready to ride, just unfold it and you are on your way.
If your child is over these recommended age or weight restrictions, the next and best model up is the two-hundred-fifty watt models. Usually, these models are where you start getting the pneumatic tires. These are tires with an inner-tube. These types of electric scooters provide a smoother ride and you won?t have to worry about replacing the wheels due to indentations or gouges.
