Illustrated New Children's Book Promotes the Joy of Flying
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) August 15, 2007 -- John, The Airport Kid, a new book by John and Hazel Jopling, is a delightfully illustrated children's book that opens up the world of small airports and describes the experiences of the teenagers who work in them.
"Airport kids" are young people who hang around small, privately owned airports doing any sort of work just to be around the planes they love. In exchange for their labor, these kids get free flight instruction, and sometimes even room and board. John, The Airport Kid tells the story of one particular boy who deals with his deep grief over the death of his dad by following his passion for aviation.
In rich, lively prose, the authors describe the day-to-day life at a small privately owned airport in Maryland. As John comes of age, he realizes the value of family and responsibility, the satisfaction of hard work, and the thrill of doing something that he truly loves. The uplifting story will appeal to readers of all ages, and Jopling's 45 years of experience as a pilot give the book real-life thrills and a stunning authenticity.
A magical adventure story and a terrific learning tool about pilots and planes, John, The Airport Kid is destined to be a soaring success.
