With a father who was an oceanographic research and development technician, Karen Dingerson learned an appreciation of nature at a very early age. Born in Albuquerque, N.M. and raised in San Diego, Dingerson spent much of her youth photographing nature along the California coast with her father. She attended Baylor University in Texas before starting a career in emergency medicine in Illinois. After moving to the Pacific Northwest, Dingerson worked with a textile designer for a catalog company, which helped teach her more about color and texture. That experience ultimately brought her back to her first love, photography. Currently residing in a remote area in Idaho, Dingerson has the wonderful opportunity to photograph nature.
