Baby Loves Disco Transforms Nightclubs into Toddler Dance Parties in 14 Cities; Parent-Propelled Phenomenon Sells Out Each Weekend

Philadelphia, PA (PRWeb) February 1, 2007 -- On most weekends, in 14 cities across the country, Baby Loves Disco is transforming the hippest night spots into child proof discos as toddlers, preschoolers and parents looking for a break from the routine playground circuit let loose for some post naptime, pre-dinner fun. Make no mistake, this is NOT the Mickey Mouse club, and Barney is banned. Baby Loves Disco is an afternoon dance party featuring real music spun and mixed by real DJs, blending classic disco tunes from the 70's & 80's that guarantees to get those little booties moving and grooving. Baby Loves Disco is proving to be the hottest new way for parents and kids to meet their friends and stay fit to boot!

Less than three years old, Baby Loves Disco is the brainchild of Heather Murphy, a dancer and mother of two kids who started the family dance party concept in Philadelphia in 2004. Music producer Andy Blackman Hurwitz attended an event with his sons and had an epiphany, realizing that parents in other cities would clamor to have this kind of event. His business acumen and Murphy's commitment to quality combined to create the formula that is selling out clubs across the country now. In Manhattan, for example, Baby Loves Disco has sold out Club Cielo for 18 months straight (beginning in February, the event moves to a larger space at Club Element). "We knew from the start that we had to engage the community and make each Baby Loves Disco party local," Blackman Hurwitz says. "It's this social networking aspect that works so well."

Murphy and Blackman Hurwitz expanded Baby Loves Disco to New York and then to several other cities. With the opening of Baby Loves Disco in Boston and Portland in January 2007, there are now 14 cities featuring these events. Local moms and dads act as the local hosts, and A-list DJs and MCs help bring together a range of parents to dance and have relaxed fun together.

At Baby Loves Disco, the fun spills out from all corners of the club: bubble machines, baskets of instruments, a chill-out room (with tents, books and puzzles), diaper changing stations, a full spread of healthy snacks (provided by local businesses) and dancing - LOTS of dancing. A new feature in February at many Baby Loves Disco events will be a Modern Mom Lounge, featuring spa services like massages, eyebrow sculpting and other pampering for weary parents, a program in partnership with Modern Mom (www.modernmom.com).

At its core, Baby Loves Disco is a community event, hosted by local parents, that brings kids together with kids and parents together with parents. Not to be left out, hip grandparents (who may actually remember grooving to disco in their youth) are also getting into Baby Loves Disco. At the recent launch in Portland, a Philadelphia grandmother traveled cross-country to join her daughter and grandkids.

Baby Loves Disco is part of the Baby Loves Music cottage industry - www.babylovesmusic.com - which includes music CDs, books and other great gear. A Baby Loves Jazz CD was released on Verve Records last fall, featuring artists like Sharon Jones, Babi Floyd and John Medeski. Penguin Books published a series of Baby Loves Jazz books, and a new set will be published in March 2007. Baby Loves Hip Hop and Baby Loves Reggae are in production, according to Blackman Hurwitz.
